The next Greenfest to take place in Brisbane runs from the 5th to the 7th of June at the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens. Ve-ery nice.
The festival is free and there will be exhibits covering everything sustainable from alternative technologies through to animal rights movements, water conservation strategies to organic producers, delicious cafes with raw foods to environmentally friendly children’s clothing, and alternative transport test-drives through to solar cooking demonstrations as well as heaps of environmental education!
A friend and I went last year and we spent all day there – eating, buying, browsing, eating, buying, learning, eating, buying… and eating… By the time I rolled home LTSH (Long Term Suffering Husband) nearly had a fit when he saw the amount of eco-friendly shopping bags I’d filled! Fortunately, there are lots of give-aways at the festival – so I hadn’t really spent that much money.
My friend and I will definitely go again this year – and we might even be lucky to drag LTSH along… no doubt he’ll either stalk the alternative technologies people or be arrested for refusing to get off one of the alternative transport vehicles when asked!
The new Tesla Roadster – the “world’s sexiest electric car” will be featured at the festival. Now even though I’m not a car-buff, I do know that vehicle because a friend of mine has it as his screen saver on his computer which he drools over on a daily basis. It will be interesting to hear more about the electric car technology, and whether or not they are the way of the future, particularly after seeing the documentary ‘Who Killed the Electric Car?’ – which I thoroughly recommend.
There is also sure to be great music and a host of friendly faces at Greenfest, all supporting each other – because at the end of the day we’re all working towards the same goal.

Tad disappointed with GreenFest this year. It has become a bit too commercialised, and there weren’t as many ‘learning’ opportunities as there was at the previous festival.
